Post BusesThere is a great variety of trips you may take by post bus to go on outings
or cross mountain passes. Ask for the leaflet on adventurous outings and
hiking tours.
Bergell/Soglio
Along the Upper Engadine lakes to Maloja by post bus. Then, further on across
the Maloja mountain pass to Casaccia and Stampa, the birthplace and home
of renowned painters and sculptors Giovanni, Augusto and Alberto Giacometti.
Visit the unique Ciäsa Granda valley museum (open daily between 2.00
and 5.00 p.m.). After lunch, continue on by bus to Soglio, an old but unspoilt
village situated on a sunny slope above the bottom of the Bergell valley.
In Soglio, the Palazzo Salis is worth seeing, and you'll be impressed with
the panorama of the Sciora and Bondasca mountain ranges that inspired artist
Giovanni Segantini.
Val Müstair
Bus ride across the Ofen pass to Müstair, a quaint farmers' village
right on the border with Italy (South Tyrol). Müstair's landmark is
the St.Johann monastery with its precious frescos, built by Charlemagne
in the 9th century. The monastery features on UNESCO's list of world heritage
sites and continues to be in use as a Benedictine convent.
