Cross
the woods leading to the Roseggletscher hotel/restaurant on foot or in a
horse-drawn carriage. From there, it takes about 2.25 hours to reach Fuorcla
Surlej (restaurant) on an ascending trail. Follow on to lake Hahnen (restaurant).
On the way down to St.Moritz, you’ll be enjoying views of the Upper
Engadine lakes. Take the post bus back to Pontresina.
Fuorcla means high ground or the saddle of a mountain.
Surlej means above the lake.
» Walking time is about 6 hours.

The path zigzagging through the pine forest starts on the right of the Nietzsche
house and leads across meadows and through forests to the Marmoré
lookout point, from where you’ll have a splendid view of the lakes
and the Fex valley with its glaciers. Following on along the path that climbs
the left-hand slope towards Alp Munt, you’ll reach Lej Sgrischus (2,618m).
Within less than half an hour, you’ll be up on Piz Chüern (2,689m),
but you may also choose to add another hour to your hike to go to Lej Nair
and Lej Alv, which is highly recommended. The way down is on a signposted
path across the meadows of Crap da Chüern towards Curtins. When merging
with the trail leading from Marmoré to Curtins, you’ll reach
the Fex road. You may also wish to continue on the zigzagging path down
to the bottom of the valley.
Lej Sgrischus means the horrific lake.
Lej Nair means the black lake.
Lej Alv means the white lake.
» Walking time is 5 to 6 hours.

Circular hiking trail from Maloja via Lej Cavloc to picturesque Lej da Bitabergh
and back to Maloja. Marvellous view of the Bergell valley.
Cavloc is the same as Cavaloccio and means a pasture or place of rest for
horses.
» Walking time is about 4 hours.

The Via Engiadina is the Upper Engadine’s 19km high-altitude path
that leads from St.Moritz’s Corviglia/Signal area (Signalbahn mountaintop
station) to Maloja without any significant level distance along the way..
All along the Via Engiadina, you will walk across pastures and through forests,
with the Upper Engadine’s deep-blue lakes below and the impressive
scenery of the Bergell valley’s steep climbing-mountains in front
of you.
The Via Engiadina also passes the well-know hamlet of Grevasalvas, where
the Heidi film was shot.
Grevasalvas means white scree or slopes.
» Walking time is about 6 hours to Maloja (4 hours to Sils).

From St.Moritz, you can reach Piz Nair either by the Chantarella cable railway
(from the St.Moritz school square) and via Chantarella-Corviglia, or by
the Corviglia-Piz Nair cable car. From Piz Nair, hikers enjoy marvellous
views of the surrounding mountains and the many valleys covered with deep
snow. The picture that presents itself is dominated by the distinct Bernina
mountain range with its glittering glaciers.
The hike begins on the north side of the mountaintop station. The first
bit leads down the wide ski pistes into a seemingly unreal col landscape
that you will pass through on your way down to lake Suvretta. As you approach
the lake, turn right and you’ll reach Fuorcla Suvretta within a few
minutes. Continue on northward down through the Suvretta valley. On your
left, Piz Suvretta and Piz Bever will give you impressive views of their
glacier-covered flanks.
The right-hand side of the valley is dominated by the mountains around Piz
Corviglia and Piz Saluver. A beautiful path with a pleasant downward inclination
leads along the Ova da Suvretta, and soon the Val Suvretta merges with Val
Bever that descends from Piz d’Err on your left. Continue on across
pastures and along the Beverin mountain brook to Spinas and further on to
Bever.
» Walking time is about 5 hours.

In Bever’s village centre, a path branches off left just past the
ornamental-concrete arc. At an altitude of some 1,800m above sea level,
this path leads towards La Punt, from where you follow a short section of
the Albula mountain-pass road until you reach a turnoff with a signpost
indicating ‘Via Segantini’. On a trail with hardly any level
distance, you’ll pass Madulain, with the village below, and finally
reach Zuoz (an archetypal Engadine village).
» Walking time is about 2.75 hours.

Above the Segantini Museum (Hotel Soldanella), the trail leads towards the
Suvretta-House hotel. Along the way, there are six information panels for
hikers to learn about the life and work of artist Segantini.
» Walking time is about half an hour.
